Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We are based in Owego, New York. It is about 30 minutes west of Binghamton and 45 minutes south of Ithaca.
Who can join?
Membership is open to anyone that is physically able to participate. The Conquistadors are an all-age drum corps.
I've heard that drum corps is expensive. How much does it cost to join the corps?
The Conquistadors are currently not charging tuition or "dues". Members will need to be able to finance the cost of their uniform which can be done through various fundraisers.
Where do you perform?
We are planning to perform in various parades in our immediate area and would like to also prepare a show to compete in the mini corps competition at the Drum Corps Associates World Championships in 2023.
Do you have auditions?
No. Membership is open to anybody. We will do our best to accommodate everyone to the extend that we have musical instruments for you to use. Sometimes our instructors will feel that you could play a more important role in a position other than the one you originally wanted. We encourage you to give it a try!
My child is interested in joining the corps but I am concerned about leaving them with the group. What can I do?
This is a very common concern with parents when their kids are ready to start participating in sports and other activities. We encourage families to be active with the group. All age corps often have generations of family members that march together. If you are not interested in performing, there is always support work that is needed from uniform fitting to instrument repair. Even just carrying water during a hot parade. We do ask that parents remain hands off during rehearsals and let the instructors teach.
